My art currently explores the aesthetics of satellite calibration targets—Cold War–era artifacts used to test and deploy surveillance technology—as symbols of the modern data economy. These “scars of the earth” are enigmatic of the tension between the synthetic precision of human industry and the organic state of the natural landscapes they disrupt.
The work investigates how certain technologies born from warfare and conflict now fuel consumerism while redefining our relationship with the planet.
